Spend Your Holidays in the Heat!

As we discussed in our last post, many people flock to the Florida warmth to escape the frigid winter conditions of their state. Every once in a while, it’s nice to try something new like spending your holiday on the beach! Bring the whole family and create new traditions.

December is a popular time for visitors, as the temperatures are typically somewhere in the sixties to eighties. The weather remains great for spending time on the beach with American Watersports and having adventures on jet skis, paddleboards, or kayaks.

We understand you can’t be on the water for every minute of your trip, so we’ve picked out a few local holiday events that you may enjoy.

1. The Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade

This parade of boats is surely like nothing you’ve ever seen before. From private boats to corporate yachts, you’ll see everything decked out for this year’s theme “Fairy Tales Afloat” as the boats flow through New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The parade begins at 6:30 p.m. on December 12.

2. Light Up Lauderdale

This ten-week celebration is already underway and continues through the end of the year. The two-and- a-half-mile brick Riverwalk is entirely lit up with festive lights and decorations. Viewing the display is free, but you are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy for less fortunate children in the community.

3. George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker™

A perfect holiday treat for the whole family: The Nutcracker™. Aside from the beautiful scenery and elegant music, you now have the chance to experience premium seating, a commemorative program with dancers’ signatures, and an exclusive photo opportunity with the ballet dancers. There are a variety of times and locations available to see The Nutcracker™ while visiting Fort Lauderdale, all of which can be found at MiamiCityBallet.org.

When you’re ready to get back to the beach and soak up the sun, American Watersports is prepared to entertain you and your family. Our kayak and jet ski tours are excellent options to include everyone while seeing the area together in a whole new way. Contact us today at (954) 946-1811 if you have any questions, or make a reservation online.
