Things To Do

Top 4 Family Activities in Ft. Lauderdale

If you are like millions of other Americans, you are dreaming of warmer weather. Why not make your dreams a reality and head to Ft. Lauderdale? Ft. Lauderdale is rapidly becoming one of the most popular beaches in the country. While there are plenty of things to see and do in the area, our team at American Watersports has created a list of our four favorite Ft. Lauderdale activities for families.

1. Visit Ft. Lauderdale Beach

Ft. Lauderdale Beach is the perfect spot for families who want to enjoy some fun in the sun. This beach is more family-friendly than other popular locations like Miami Beach but still offers white sand and clear water. Additionally, this beach has a wide shoreline, so you won’t feel crowded even on busy days. The waters are also fairly calm, making it an ideal location for young families.

2. Head to Ft. Lauderdale Beach Park

For families who like to get up and move, Ft. Lauderdale Beach Park is a great choice. This park is located on the water and offers free access to volleyball and basketball courts, picnic areas, a playground, and public restrooms and showers. There are also plenty of options for dining and shopping in the area, making this a one-stop shop for all of your family’s needs.

3. Spend a Day at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park

Located between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Coast, Hugh Taylor Birch State Park truly is a hidden gem. The park offers opportunities for kayaking and canoeing in the lake, and paved bike trails for cyclists. Hikers won’t want to miss the Coastal Hammock Trail, which runs through a rare native maritime tropical hardwood hammock ecosystem. Birdwatchers and nature lovers will also love this park as more than 250 species of birds make this their home.

4. Hit the Waves with a Jet Ski Rental

To kick your vacation up a notch, rent a jet ski from American Watersports in Pompano Beach. There is nothing like flying over the waves on a jet ski to get your adrenaline pumping. For families with younger riders, we also offer jet skis that can accommodate up to three riders. To reserve a jet ski for your upcoming vacation, call (954) 946-1811. We look forward to seeing you out on the waves!
