Exploring the Florida Everglades

While planning a family vacation to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, one attraction you should not over look is visiting the Florida Everglades. Made up of sub-tropical jungles, swamp lands, and saw-grass prairies, the Everglades are a unique vacation destination that you can’t find anywhere else in the world. Because of the variety of outdoor activities, you can span your Everglades adventure out for however long you’d like. If you only have one day to spend there we would recommend you begin your Everglades adventure at the Everglades National Park, which makes up 1/7 of the entire Everglades. If you drive about an hour south of Fort Lauderdale near the town of Homestead, Florida, you can begin your journey at the Ernest Coe Visitor Center. The Ernest Coe Visitor Center offers you educational exhibits, films, brochures and a plethora of other informational souvenirs to purchase. The visitor center is open every day of the year from 9am to 5pm. There are several other activities for your family to enjoy while visiting the Everglades. The Everglades offer the usual camping activities-camping, hiking, biking and nature viewing. If your family is looking for an aquatic adventure, head on over to the Florida Bay, Whitewater Bay, or the Ten Thousand Islands area, all located in the Everglades surrounding area. Here you can put your kayak rental to use; you can even enjoy boating and your jet ski rentals. Be sure to call the Everglades state park or go on their website to find out more about marinas, boat fees, water trail maps, and safety advice. And of course, there is always choosing one of the several Everglades tours. You can choose from airboat rides, Everglades day safaris, the Ten Thousand Islands power boat excursion, educational walking tours and animal watch walking or boating tours. All of which specialize in a certain area, which allows you to find the one that best fits your family’s interests. If your family decides they would like to spend their Everglades trip enjoying the beautiful Florida water contact American Water Sports. American Watersports offers several kinds of water sport rentals and tours in Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach and the surrounding Florida communities. Reserve one of our jet ski rentals or a kayak rental and explore all the aquatic adventures the Everglades have to offer today. You can contact us by calling 954-946-1811 or visiting our website.
