Their mission is to promote the benefits and importance of swimming. It is stressed to be great for fitness, good health, and quality of life. So now when you think of Fort Lauderdale, along with beaches, jet skis, fun dining, golfing, and palm trees… you will think of the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
We hope you take time on your Florida vacation to check out the International Swimming Hall of Fame and to cut loose on a Fort Lauderdale jet ski rental. This is the perfect way to learn and experience the fun joys of water!
This hall of fame is dedicated to displaying the history, memory, and recognition of famous swimmers, divers, water polo players, synchronized swimming, and anyone who was involved in life-saving activities and education about safety and swimming. Museum admission is $8.00 for adults, $6 for seniors (65 and older), and $4 for students.
Over 40 different exhibits can be found in Fort Lauderdale that talk about the history of swimming and those who made a great impact in the world of swimming. Many Olympic medals, pins, badges, diplomas, and certificates are displayed at the museum. In fact, the International Swimming Hall of Fame museum is the location for the world’s largest collection of these awards. Exhibits include: Johnny Weissmuller – World’s Greatest Swimmer, The Original Olympic Flag, The History of Swimming, The Olympic Games Wall, The Sport of Diving, and more. And located between the two Hall of Fame exhibition buildings is the ISHOF Aquatic Complex. It is the only one of its kind in the world that offers two 50m pools, a diving well, and a swimming flume.
The Huizenga Theater allows visitors to watch a program or two. Program presentations vary in theme. Some show coverage of Olympic games. Others show information on water safety, and others touch on famous swimmers. Computers and photographs featuring information on swimming can be found throughout the building.
Another neat thing to check out here is the collection of uniforms, warm ups, and swim suits worn throughout the years. Be sure to notice how the styles have changed over time from what people would wear in the past and what they wear while on their jet ski rental in Fort Lauderdale.
